From Richard:
As soon as Seth and I decided to set this to music, I knew it had to be dark and heavy, just like the story shows Jesus to be heavy in the garden. I borrowed heavily from our version of Troubles of The World (originally by Mahalia Jackson). It really just wrote itself.
Lyrically it took me a while to figure out what was going on here. Jesus goes into the garden of Gethsemane heavy with death and shame. He emerges resolved to go through with the week to come, full of love for his sheep; content with death and shame. The way the song uses the forest and tree imagery is... interesting...
